Well didn't get to finish the race, but I got a nice 28 mile gravel ride in the freezing drizzle, and fresh snow. Started out at a good pace, but my weak leg and aching back slowed me down. I decided to pull the plug at 140th and Badger drive since I was unable to get myself warm. It was 12 more mile to cumming from there and that was enough. I hope to heal up the next week or so and get back into some milage again. This sitting around and healing crap is for the birds.
After 1 hour I knew I was done.
The rest of the group I was riding with hung on for an hour long than me
Haven't been able to do much for the past 4 days. The stomach flu first then back/leg pain have kept me in bed. Today I feel a little better so here is something...oh ya and 4 years off the cigarettes today. My original plan on Cirrem was single speed and under 5 hours but with this new pain I'm going for geared 29r and finishing. I think the geared mountain bike even though it's heavy will be easier on my body and not force me to grind up hills that will hurt my back. I thought about the geared cross bike, but that will lead me to trying to keep up with other riders and hurting myself more. So I'll save the SS for Almonzo 100.
