Gravel Century 5

116 miles and I'm still hurting today OUCH.  Longest single speed ride to date.

Took this little path at ledges to "lost lake"

They need to rename it now I found it

So I thought road closed ahead would be a simple puddle over
the road....then I got to climb the 250ft out of the valley and go around

Love the frame pack

Dinner time on the "closed road' in granger

Flat tire #2

Not bad for the year with the amount of gravel I ride.

They needed to be rotated anyway

Tree planted

wild spruce from dads back yard

roses pruned and feed (this is called a peace rose)

And weeds pulled...at least from the rose beds...(knockout rose). and nothing else in blooming right now

Bike Trail Touring

Took the Neil Smith out to the High Trestle and I found a trail I have never heard of HERE It goes from Slater to Melbourne (35 miles).  I took it as far as Cambridge were I made the first Beer/food stop at 50 miles.  I forget how much I miss trail/road touring when I get so caught up in gravel riding.

I also had an interview for a new job yesterday!  It went great and I'm very very hopeful to be changing jobs this next month.  This will probably keep me from doing Ragbrai and some other things to, but in the end a less stressful job will be worth a few sacrifices.

Huxley, Iowa

Nice 'off road' trail

Bang!

I jumped over the railroad tracks on 63rd on my commuter and herd bang. I thought crap there went a bunch of spokes. Then I found this

Wrapped around the back wheel hooked to a spoke. Must have come loose off the rack and grabbed some spoke for a ride. At least it didn't fly off and get me in the leg.

Taco ride FAIL....

Raining again booooo.... and wind rain too. Fridays ride will be cut short by a job interview, but that could be good or bad. I might just go to Winterset and Earlham on the gravel and get a century in....fat man needs to ride.

Summer Rain ride

First day of summer and a good 35 miles on the 'urban assult bike' (single speed cross bike). Started in the rain and finished in the rain love the sound of the rain fall and the spray of water off the front tire...in the face

The mist of rain...

This isn't 'closed' to real bikers...

Time for some touring

With the end of my 'race season'  (until cyclocross) I need to get out and ride some pavement.  I have a route together for friday looks to be about 150 miles or so mostly bike trails with a little gravel/highway connectors involved.  I'm taking the touring bike with minimal bags and some food for the road, hope to stop at the flat tire lounge for a couple drinks in Madrid.
